The York University Lions women's hockey team remained at home on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Laurier Golden Hawks as they looked to bounce back following a loss to the Guelph Gryphons the night before.Â
A scoreless first period set the tone early, with Laurier controlling possession and outshooting York 11–1, but the Lions managed to hold firm defensively. The breakthrough came midway through the second period, giving the Golden Hawks a 1–0 lead heading into the final frame.Â
Laurier pulled away in the third period, striking three times to seal the result and secure a 4–0 shutout. The defensive strength of both teams was evident as each team went scoreless on the power play, each finishing 0-for-3.Â
LOOKING AHEAD:
Taking the loss, the Lions now hit the road to face the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, January 23. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm.Â
