LIONS CONSISTENT 60 MINUTE EFFORT YIELDS WIN AGAINST BADGERS

The York University Lions men's hockey team hit the road Saturday night for the second game of their weekend doubleheader, taking on the Brock Badgers. After dropping two close contests to Brock earlier this season, York entered the matchup determined to change the narrative.

The opening frame saw Brock strike first finding the back of the net late in the period and giving the Badgers a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission. Despite several power play opportunities on both sides, neither team could capitalize and decisively control the play, and the game remained tight.

The second period was marked by strong defensive play and solid goaltending, with both teams trading chances but unable to add to the scoreboard. York matched Brock shot-for-shot through forty minutes, setting the stage for a decisive third period.

The Lions broke through early in the third period when Brandon McCartney tied the game at 4:33, finishing a feed from Keeton Oakley and Ethan Strik. Momentum swung firmly in York's favour just minutes later, as David Mabey netted his first goal of the season at 8:57, assisted by Hunter Brown and Lucas Eagle, giving the Lions their first lead of the night.

York sealed the win in the final minutes, as Hunter Brown added an empty-net goal at 18:50, assisted by Harry Clark and Ryder Ringor, completing the comeback and securing the Lions a 3-1 regulation win.

LOOKING AHEAD:
With the win, the Lions keep rolling and will stay on the road for their next matchup, heading downtown Toronto to face the TMU Bold on Friday, February 6. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:15 pm, as York looks to carry this momentum into another key conference matchup.
