The York Lions Men's Hockey Team looks to get back on track this weekend following a tough last weekend. The Lions found themselves without a without a win on back-to-back nights against the Toronto Varsity Blues and the Brock Badgers. Once again, the Lions will be in action on back-to-back nights at the Canlan Ice Sports facility in York, looking for a better result this time around.

On Friday, York will first take on the Waterloo Warriors. It'll be the second time these two teams have met so far this season. The first match was a hard-fought contest between the two sides, with York jumping out to a 3-0 lead over the Warriors. The Warriors would rally back and go on to defeat the Lions in both teams' opening game.

The Lions head into their match against Waterloo 1-3 so far, while the Warriors have an inverse record of 3-1, defeating the Guelph Gryphons and the Laurier Golden Hawks while falling to the Western Mustangs. This Friday's game will be the second of four total meetings between the two sides, with Waterloo holding a 1-0 record so far as mentioned.

On Saturday, the Lions will face off against the Laurier Golden Hawks, as York will be playing in their second Waterloo School double-header of the season. This part of the double-header was the better of the two for York, as they flipped the script from the Waterloo game onto Laurier. York was down 1-0 before scoring three unanswered in the third to secure a 3-1 victory over the Golden Hawks; the Lions only win of the season so far.

Laurier currently sits with a 2-2 record on the season with wins over Brock and Guelph and also a loss to Waterloo. York could pass Laurier in the early season standings and secure the tiebreaker versus Laurier for the season, giving the game a potential lasting impact well past the final horn.

Tickets are available for purchase on yorkulions.ca/tickets. York will play Waterloo on Friday, October 23rd, 2026, with an expected puck drop of 7 PM EST. On Sunday, October 24th, York will face Laurier with that game also scheduled for a 7 PM EST puck drop. Both games will be at Canlan Ice Sports in York and will also be available to stream on oua.tv.
