The York University men's soccer team was on the road for a rematch against the McMaster Marauders, after beating them 4-0 last time at YLS.Â
McMaster started the game off strong with 4 shot attempts within the first 3 minutes, which were answered by York with some of their own attempts. McMaster answered back with 4 blocked shot attempts from Karl Espiro, plus more from others within 6 minutes. York answered back with shot attempts from Christian Zeppieri and Matthew Fishcher.
The game continued smoothly with both teams making opportunities for themselves to one-up the other, and then the Marauders scored. McMaster's AJ Robichaud made it in the 38th minute to give the Marauders a point on the board. The first half ended with 3 shot attempts from the Lions, yet none were converted. McMaster 1, York 0.Â
York started the second half fiercely with plenty of shots right off the bat, including an attempted header. 10 minutes of the half had gone by, and the Lions were given an opportunity to shoot a penalty, yet it was unfortunately missed by Zeppieri. McMaster answered with 6 shots within the next 10 minutes, yet there was still no goal scored by any side in this half.Â
The second half continued with substitutions and yellow cards for both sides, until Robichaud scored another one for the Marauders. York tried to answer with 2 more shots but unfortunately ended up with their first loss of the season. The Lions fell short to the Marauders 2-0.Â
