LIONS DROP ROAD GAME TO GRYPHONS

The York University women's hockey team continued their road trip Friday night to face the Guelph Gryphons. The Lions came into this game after falling to the Nipissing Lakers and were looking to bounce back.

From the opening puck drop the intensity on the ice was high. The Lions struck first, securing the opening goal of the game late in the first period. At the 14:32 mark, York capitalized on a power play as Lexy Anonech set up Alexa Giantsopoulos for the finish. The goal broke the early stalemate and gave the Lions a 1-0 lead.

Early in the second period, the Gryphons tied the game after stealing the puck from the Lions and catching them on a counterattack. Late in the period, Guelph scored again to take their first lead of the game. They followed this up by converting again just two minutes later, doubling the Gryphons' lead to 3-1 heading into the third period.

The Gryphons held their lead through the third period to secure the 3-1 victory. Despite the Lions' efforts to respond, Guelph remained disciplined defensively to protect the two-goal margin and finalize the win.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions continue their road trip as they are set to face the Waterloo Warriors tomorrow. The game can be streamed live on OUA TV.
