York University Athletics & Recreation, in conjunction with the OUA, announced the 2026-27 hockey schedules on Tuesday afternoon.
WOMEN
The Lions women's program will begin the season hosting the Western Mustangs and Windsor Lancers for a second season, beginning with the Mustangs on October 16. The Lions earned a season-opening win over Western a year ago, kicking off what was a 4-1 start to the year.
The Lions are looking to return to the postseason after missing the playoffs in 2025-26. The return of soon-to-be fifth-year goaltender Emma Wedgewood is sure to help in that cause after the veteran missed the entire winter term with injury.
On offence, York will be losing its top scorer from a season ago in Alexa Giantsopoulos, but will return Kaitlin Teixeira, Ginger Fast and Lola Massey, who will all be looked upon to take another step in their development as veteran pieces up front.

The Lions two games against the defending McCaw Cup champion Guelph Gryphons come on Nov. 25 in Guelph and Jan. 23 at York.

In-city rivalries will spark back up as the Lions take on the Toronto Varsity Blues (Nov. 13 at TOR; Jan. 16 at YRK) and the TMU Bold (Nov. 14 at TMU; Jan. 15 at YRK) a total of four times once again this season.

The Lions and the McCaw Cup runners-up, the Ottawa Gee-Gees, will play a pair of games, with the Gee-Gees visiting Canlan Ice Sports to kick off the the penultimate weekend of the fall term on Nov. 20, while the Lions travel to the nation's capital in the penultimate game of the regular season on Feb. 19.

MEN
The Lions men's team will open the year on the road for a third straight season, this time making their first of two trips through Waterloo Region. York will open at the Columbia Icefield Arena against the Warriors on Friday, Oct. 9 before facing off against the Laurier Golden Hawks the following night.Â
The red and white return home for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 17 to battle the Toronto Varsity Blues in the first of two matinee affairs to kick off the home schedule, hosting their Line 1 rivals in the home opener for the second consecutive campaign. They will then close out the weekend against the Brock Badgers on Oct. 18.
While the Lions lost eight graduates a season ago, they still boast a roster of seven players entering their fourth-year centering around Keeton Oakley, who finished third on the team in scoring a season ago. Meanwhile, the team's top scorers from 2025-26, Harry Clark and Olivier Lamothe, both enter their third seasons.

York will play their other in-city rival, the TMU Bold, a total of three times, welcoming the Bold to Canlan Ice Sports on Nov. 21 and visiting the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Jan. 15 and Feb. 4.

The Lions will travel to Thunder Bay to lock horns with the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Jan. 22 and 23, and will play host to the T'Wolves on Nov. 27, the second-last game of the fall term.

The Lions longest road trip of the season is a five-gamer that stretches from those games at Lakehead through their final meeting of the year with the Bold on Feb. 4. In addition to the Thunderwolves and Bold, the Lions will visit Southwestern Ontario for games against the Western Mustangs (Jan. 29) and the Windsor Lancers (Jan. 30).

York closes the season with a five-game homestand, finishing it off with games against the Guelph Gryphons on Feb. 6 and 20. In between, the Lions host the Windsor Lancers (Feb. 12), Varsity Blues (Feb. 13), and Brock Badgers (Feb. 19).
