The York University Lions women's soccer team continued their winning ways Sunday afternoon, traveling to Sault Ste. Marie for the second game of their weekend doubleheader against the Algoma Thunderbirds.
Coming off a 4–0 victory over Algoma on Saturday, York entered the second meeting looking to carry that momentum into another strong performance. The Lions controlled possession and generated chances throughout the afternoon, finishing with 15 shots total and eight on target.
York opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Jasmyn Clarke found the back of the net to put the Lions ahead 1–0.
Just three minutes later, York doubled their advantage. Nia Fleming-Thompson scored in the 32nd minute, with Arianna Piacente picking up the assist.
York took its 2–0 lead into halftime, while goalkeeper Gracie Abbink kept Algoma off the scoresheet through the opening 45 minutes.
The Lions continued to hold the Thunderbirds at bay in the second half. York registered another six shots on target while Abbink made four saves to preserve the clean sheet.
York added its final goal in the closing minutes. Isabella Rende scored in the 90th minute, with Clarke earning her second point of the afternoon with the assist.
The 3–0 result gave York its second clean sheet of the weekend against Algoma. The Lions finished the match with 10 corner kicks compared to Algoma's two and held an 8–4 advantage in shots on target.

York will return home next weekend to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 PM EST at York Lions Stadium.
