LIONS FINISH SECOND AND THIRD AT WINDSOR TEAM CHALLENGE

The York University track & field team posted big results over the weekend (Feb. 13-14) en route to the men's team capturing silver and the women taking home bronze at the Windsor Team Challenge.

The biggest result of the weekend was Brittany Crew's (East York, Ont.) throw in the shot put of 15.15m and Khamica Bingham's (Brmapton, Ont.) 60m run of 7.34 seconds, which earned them both golds and set new meet records. Crew also took home the bronze in the weight throw with a 17.07m toss.

Not too far behind Bingham was Sheereen Harris (Toronto), who grabbed the bronze in the 60m with a 7.75 second run. In the 300m, Christy Ihumaegbo (East York, Ont.) ran a 40.26, which was good for silver.

The women also stood atop the podium in both the 4x200m and 4x400m relays.  The 4x200m relay team of Bingham, Harris, Danielle Knight (Brampton, Ont.) and Mikeisha Bobb (London, Ont.) ran a 1:39.79, which qualifies them for the CIS nationals. The 4x400m relay team who ran 3:55.98 consisted of Harris, Ihumaegbo, Bobb and Meira Dholakia (Richmond Hill, Ont.).

On the men's side, the Lions swept the 60m dash with Ike Omoruna (Brampton, Ont.) taking home gold running 6.94 seconds, and Xavier Jehovah (Toronto) and Dereck Djan (Toronto) rounding out the top three.

In the triple jump, Richard Jansen (Bradford, Ont.) found the podium in third place with a leap of 14.24m and Justin Massar (Anten Mills, Ont.) finished fourth in the pentathlon with 3342 points.

In the relays, the men swept the 4x200m and 4x400m races.
