The York University Lions track and field program concluded the 2025-26 season on Saturday at the 2026 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships in Winnipeg. The final day was highlighted by a silver-medal performance in the men's pole vault, where Liam West cleared 4.90m to reach the national podium. Teammate Harrison Booth also competed in the event, clearing 4.45m to secure a ninth-place finish.
In the sand pit, the Lions' OUA podium-sweeping triple jump trio of Williams Kalu, Jamie Crawford, and Arwin Mathivathanan represented the program in national competition. Kalu led the group with a fifth-place finish on a 14.80m jump, followed by Crawford in sixth at 14.46m and Mathivathanan in eleventh at 13.60m.
Relay competition accounted for the remainder of the afternoon's action, headlined by a second national silver medal. The 4x200m team of Brandon Choumbe Yami, Ibrahim Moustafa, Samuel Pinceau, and Cameron Christian clocked a 1:26.94 to take second place, and the women's 4x200m team of Janae Brown, Alexandra Quaidoo, Charlotte Murchison, and Kyla Sleath finished sixth in 1:38.97.
In the 4x400m events, the women's team of Murchison, Jenna Ibrahim, Hillary Ojo, and Sophia DiMarino narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish (3:49.12), and the men's squad of Choumbe Yami, Jesse St. Louis-Evans, Nathanael Taffese, and Daniel Burke placed seventh (3:17.55). These performances solidified the final team standings, with the York men finishing fifth overall out of 24 schools and the women finishing seventeenth out of 25 programs.
