The York Lions are counting down the top 10 stories of the 2014-15 season! Stay tuned to yorkulions.ca over the next two weeks as we relive a tremendous year for our varsity programs. The No. 1 story will be unveiled on Friday, April 17.The Lions women's tennis team captured the 2014 OUA championship, capping off an undefeated season that also saw them qualify for this summer's national championships.
The banner was the team's first since winning three in a row from 2001-03, and its sixth overall in program history. They won with 17 points, four more than second-place Montreal.
The Lions dominated the three-day tournament en route to the title, winning three of the six singles flights and one of the three doubles. Overall, they had five women competing in singles final rounds on Day 3.
In the regular season, the Lions won all eight of their contests in convincing fashion. Among those victories were five 7-0 shutouts and two other matches in which they won 6-1. Their narrowest margin of triumph was a 5-2 win over McGill.
