Box Score The York University women's soccer team played the Waterloo Warriors in their last home game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Alumni Field and picked up a tremendous 4-0 win, their sixth shutout of the regular season.

The game started with the recognition of York's graduating athletes who have contributed to the program throughout their studies. Goaltender
Courtney Davis, and midfielders
Christina Morelli and
Farkhunda Muhtaj were honoured in a pre-game ceremony with
Gillian McCullough, Associate Director, Athletics,
Bart Zemanek, Manager, Varsity Athletics, Head Coach
Carmine Isacco and assistant coaches
Tina Cook, Paul De Abreau and
Nour Ghoneim recognized the three student-athletes.

The Lions were visibly stronger than the Warriors offensively with more than double the amount of shots throughout the game at 13 for York and six for Waterloo. In just the sixth minute of the game York's Kiyani Johnson opened the scoring with a header off of graduating senior Muhtaj's assist.

After Johnson's goal, Waterloo attempted to score twice against York, however, the first shot was saved by York goalkeeper
Courtney Davis and Waterloo's second shot went to the far left of the net.

In the 20
th minute of the game, York had a strong offensive charge that gave them their second goal of the game. Kiyani Johnson hammered a strike, which was saved by Waterloo goalkeeper Morgan Berg, then York's
Yoana Peralta fired a shot which was also saved by Berg. On York's third try, Morelli fired a shot, which went past the Warriors' goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

The Lions and the Warriors went into the half with York leading 2-0.

In the second half of the game, the Lions defensive players kept the Lions' net secured as
Teni Odetoyinbo's continued stellar defensive play ended several of Waterloo's attempts, as did York goalkeeper
Courtney Davis who had six saves in during the game.

In the 62
nd minute of the game, the Lions' offense put the game away when Johnson scored her second goal of the game and added a third goal to York's score. Forward
Stephanie Lamanna scored the fourth and final goal of the game with an assist by Muhtaj, Lamanna's second goal of the season.

With five minutes to spare, the graduating students were substituted out of the game for an emotional farewell. The crowd applauded as Morelli, Muhtaj, and Davis, who had a shutout this game, were substituted out for their final home game.

The Lions next game will be against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, Oct. 19 in Windsor, Ont.
