YORK ENDS MARK CROSS HUMBOLDTSTRONG REMEMBRANCE TOUR AGAINST HUSKIES

The York Lions ended the Mark Cross HumboldtStrong Remembrance Tour with a 5-2 loss against the Saskatchewan Huskies Sunday night in Saskatoon, Sask.

The game took place in Rutherford Arena, the Huskies home rink since 1930 and was the last game ever held in the arena with the new Merlis Belsher Palace set to open soon.

The game against the Huskies capped off three games in four nights for the Lions who played in Lumsden, Sask., on Thursday against the Regina Cougars and Friday in Humboldt, Sask., against the Calgary Dino's. Proceeds from the games went to the Mark Cross Memorial Sports Fund and the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation.  In addition to playing three games against teams from the CanWest conference as part of the tour and the Lions also participated in school visits, hockey clinics and community events.

With an off-day between games on Saturday the Lions and their coaching staff ran a minor hockey clinic in Lumsden, where Cross grew up playing youth hockey.
