On Saturday, the York University Lions men's basketball team suffered a 93-63 defeat against the Ryerson Rams at the Tait McKenzie Centre.

The Lions came out hard in the first two periods as they kept the score neck and neck with the Rams for the majority until Lions
Liam Rietschin scored two free throws to give his side the lead at the end of the first quarter 17-16.

In the second quarter, the Lions kept their stride against the Rams. Toronto native
Prince Kamunga scored a three-point shot to help the Lions secure a four-point lead. The Rams answered back with baskets of their own with a dunk from Jayden Fredrick, and a jump shot from Tevaun Kokko. The Lions held their own and scored a couple buckets from
Alex Thielen and a three-pointer from
Connor Laronde to keep the Rams at bay, ending the half up 37-33.

From the third quarter onward, the Lions came out hard, but the Rams were the stronger side. A three-pointer from Mouhamed Ndiaye, followed by a jump shot from Fredrick gave the Rams the lead and ultimately the win over the Lions outscoring them 60-28 in the second half.

Kamunga lead the team with 17 points and 12 rebounds,
DeAndrae Pierre added in 11 points, while Laronde had10 points off the bench.Â

The Lions play their next game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees this Friday at the Montpetit Hall at 8pm.
