Box Score Owen Guy's overtime winner was the difference maker at Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre Thursday night, as the York University Lions dropped their second overtime decision of the season to the Brock Badgers.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After scoring the game-winner against Toronto in their most recent contest, Owen Guy picked right up where he left off by opening the scoring against the Lions at 13:24 of the opening period.
- Less than three minutes later, the Lions answered back. They rounded out first period scoring with a goal by Nik Malenica. The former Kindersley Klipper deposited his second goal of the season, and the game was tied 1-1.
- Justin Brack then had two second period goals for the Badgers, sandwiching Justin Bean's second goal of the season, making the score 3-2 Brock. Brack's second, which came during a Christian Dedonato hooking penalty, was the first shorthanded goal of the season for Brock.
- York would then promptly skate out for the third and tie the game 3-3, sending the game to extra time on the third goal of the season for Brandon Yeamans.
- Brock wouldn't waste much time in the extra frame, with Guy scoring his second of the game 21 seconds into overtime.Â
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- York healthily outshot the Badgers in the game's first two periods, earning a 29-20 advantage on the shot clock through 40 minutes of play. However, Brock more than doubled their total in the third and shortened overtime frame to ultimately outshoot York 42-37.
- Cole Ceci was outstanding between the Lions' pipes, making 38 saves for a .905 save percentage, well above his career average.
- With his goal in the third, Yeamans enters a tie for the Lions team lead in goals (3). Bean's goal gives him sole possession of first in goals by York defenders.
