Bingo for the Cure is the York University Lions' new, virtual way of beating cancer. The initiative will take place Sunday, March 28 with the intention of raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society and other related local and provincial charities.
Rules & Regulations
Across U SPORTS, schools came together for breast cancer research through the annual Shoot for the Cure initiative earlier this month. Through Bingo for the Cure, York Athletics & Recreation is expanding the realm of this fundraiser to include all forms of cancer research and a wide-ranging group of Lions teams are leading the charge for donations.
Individuals looking to support the initiative can sign up to attend the Zoom meeting through the York University/Canadian Cancer Society Donation Page. Your generosity will fund innovative research, provide vital support services to cancer patients and help change lives.
Typically, U SPORTS schools raise money through regular season games in Canada West, the OUA, RSEQ and AUS, as well as other special events. This year, due to the ongoing reality of the pandemic, the event was moved to Zoom where a charity bingo game with a minimum of a $5 registration will take place.
Prizes for winners will include gift cards and York gear prize packs.
York University student-athletes involved with the event have done most of the heavy lifting in the lead-up to the event's execution. The organizing committee contains student-athletes from the Lions women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's hockey and women's basketball teams.
