The York University Lions women's cross-country team is heading to Sherbrooke, Quebec, ready to tackle the nation's best at the prestigious U SPORTS National Championship. Following a strong showing at the recent OUA Championship, the Lions are focused on continuing their upward trajectory on the national stage.
At the highly competitive provincial OUA Championship, the women's squad secured a tenth-place finish overall. More impressively, the team demonstrated significant individual growth, with three athletes clocking personal best times (PBs) and one achieving a season best. This surge in speed and performance suggests the Lions are peaking at the perfect time. The athletes will navigate the challenging 8-kilometer course in Sherbrooke, QC, with the Women's Race scheduled for 1:00 pm. York will be represented by a determined and talented group of runners: Riyaa Balakrishnan, Malak Elghobashy, Anastasia Kirova, Teresa Muggeridge, Ava Sparkes, Evelyn Wang, and Grace Whitley.
All U SPORTS championships are broadcast on one of the following CBC Sports digital platforms: CBC Gem, CBCSports.ca, CBC Sports YouTube. You can watch the Lions race this Saturday at 1:00 pm live!
