York University Lions women's basketball player Kiara Leveridge continues to add to her list of accolades with her second consecutive OUA second team all-star selection.
Leveridge, a fourth-year social work student from Scarborough, Ont., led the Lions with 18.8 points per game, good enough for second in the province and sixth in the nation. Leveridge also led York in rebounding, snatching an average of 8.8 boards per game, which was sixth in the OUA and 18th in the country. Her best game of the season came in an upset win over the TMU Bold on Feb. 8 when she put up 25 points and ripped down 21 rebounds in the OUA's lone 20–20 game of the season, a 62-57 Lions victory. She was one of just five OUA players to grab 20+ rebounds in a single game this season.
With this award, the 5'10 guard becomes the first Lion to earn an all-star nomination in back-to-back campaigns since Lauren Golding was a second-teamer three years in a row from 2019-20 through her final season of 2022-23. Along with her season-high 21 boards against TMU, Leveridge's season best in points was 31, which came in a losing cause against the Western Mustangs on Jan. 18. In all, Leveridge scored in double figures in 16 of 22 games played, with eight double-doubles.
Through four seasons as a Lion – with still another year of eligibility remaining should she choose to return – Leveridge is one of the most impactful players in program history. She currently sits second all-time in scoring with 1,369 points, third in offensive rebounds with 220 and third in total rebounds with 612.
