The York Lions Men's Soccer Team will look to put the finishing touches on a historic regular season this weekend when they face the Laurier Golden Hawks on October 16th.

York is coming off a weekend in which they got back on track after their first loss of the season to the McMaster Marauders. Last weekend, the Lions took it to the Brock Badgers, beating them 7-1 and bouncing back to assert their place atop the OUA Standings with a 10-1 record.

Laurier's Men's team did not fare so well as they lost the battle of Waterloo to cross-town rivals the Warriors by a score of 3-1. The Golden Hawks could not get back on track either two days later when they faced the Western Mustangs, as they also lost that match by a score of 3-1 to fall to 6-6-1 on the season.

York is far and away the best offensive team in the OUA so far this season, as they lead the league in the three main offensive categories. York is first in goals per game with 4.00 on average, first in shooting percentage at 24.6%, and first in shots per game with 16.3. Laurier has not fared nearly as well on offense, as they're 15th in goals per game with an average of 1.00, 11th in shooting percentage with 14.1%, and 15th in shots per game with 7.1.

On the defensive side of the ball, York remains one of the best teams in the OUA on that side of the pitch as well, while Laurier certainly performs better defensively than they do offensively. York gives up roughly 0.91 goals per contest while Laurier gives up 1.41. York and Laurier also have the same number of clean sheets on the season, both with four total.

Last time these two teams faced off earlier this season, the Lions took care of business dominating the Golden Hawks from start to finish. York had 20 more shots total than Laurier (25 to 5) with 13 more on target than Laurier as well (15 to 2). York would hold the Golden Hawks to a clean sheet while putting three past the Golden Hawks on their way to a 3-0 victory. York will look for more of the same this weekend as they prepare for their playoff push while Laurier will try to secure a big win right before playoffs are set to start and get their program back on track.
