York University Lions women's soccer goalkeeper Charlotte Phillips has made a lasting impact on the program, both on and off the pitch.

In addition to being named an OUA second team all-star on Tuesday afternoon, the pride of nearby Markham, Ont., was also awarded the OUA West Champion of EDI Award for her work with Youth Program Advisor and Youth Advisory Board member with Singing Our Stories, a York University-affiliated research and community program supporting refugee and newcomer children and youth.

The fourth-year gender & women's studies student helps facilitate weekly programming at temporary accommodations for refugee and newcomer families, including converted hotels. She works directly with children to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where they can build connections, develop confidence, and share their experiences through creative expression. She has been helping create and publish a children's cookbook featuring traditional recipes shared by children in the program.

On the pitch, The Lions keeper went 7-2-1 in 10 regular season starts with five clean sheets en route to her first conference all-star selection. She made a season-high 11 saves on Oct. 4 at McMaster in a 4-0 whitewashing of the maroon and white. She then backstopped the Lions to a 2-1 over Brock in the OUA quarter-final and was spectacular in a losing cause in the semi-finals against Ottawa, making five saves against the top-scoring team in the country.

York's other all-stars include first teamers Nia Fleming-Thompson and Joanna Abdelmalak, along with second teamer Ariana Lampiris, who enjoyed a breakout season in her first year of eligibility after sitting out the 2025 season.

Fleming-Thompson, a fifth-year biology student, earns an OUA all-star nod for the third time in her career. She made a statement in her return to the Lions starting 11 after missing the 2025 season, keeping her out of a second full campaign. In her first game back, the 2022 OUA West rookie of the year and 2024 OUA West player of the year scored both goals in a 2-0 win over the Windsor Lancers, announcing her return with authority. Overall, the 5'4 striker scored eight times in the regular season to finish fifth in the conference in that department. The Mississauga native then scored all three York goals in the postseason, including a 120th-minute winner in the OUA quarter-final against Brock.

Abdelmalak, a third-year midfielder from Richmond Hill, Ont., finds herself among the OUA's best for the first time in her career. The kinesiology and health science student made her presence felt as a playmaker in her second season as a Lion after transferring to York from Rider University in Lawrence Township, N.J., ahead of the 2025 season. She netted her first two OUA goals against the Waterloo Warriors on Sept. 6, where she also added an assist, earning her the York women's athlete of the week for that week. Overall, the 5'5 midfielder scored two goals and five assists for seven points, all while playing a solid defensive game, appearing in all 12 games and making nine starts.

Meanwhile, Lampiris earns a second team all-star selection in her first full season of play. The defender, who, like Abdelmalak, hails from Richmond Hill, made 10 starts and played 11 of the Lions 12 regular season matches, after appearing in only one match in her first season with the program. Despite not putting up a point, she was extremely reliable on the Lions back line as a rookie. Lampiris, who studies in York's renowned Schulich School of Business, is the first York rookie to be named an all-star since Fleming-Thompson was a first teamer in 2022. Additionally, Lampiris becomes the third York defender in as many years to be named a conference all-star, following in the footsteps of former Lions Vanessa Reda (2025) and Brook-Lynne Mitchell (2024).
