Murchison, a fourth-year distance runner, helped the Lions women's team to a pair of relay medals en route to a fifth-place finish on home turf at the OUA track & field championships. The kinesiology & health science major took the baton third in the 4x200m, running the second-fastest time of 25.00, helping get York the silver medal along with veteran teammates Janae Brown and Alexandra Quaidoo and rookie Kyla Sleath. The Ottawa, Ont., native then ran third and seventh in the 4x400m race, running times of 27.74 and 26.07, the first and fourth-fastest laps en route to a bronze. Individually, Murchison also finished sixth in the women's 300m race on day one.
Murchison and the Lions will now prepare for the 2026 U SPORTS track & field championships in Winnipeg from Mar. 5-7.
Ginzburg, a fourth-year fly and freestyle swimmer, medalled in all four events in which he participated for a third consecutive year at the OUA swimming championships from Varsity Pool. The kinesiology & health science student beat his own OUA record in the 100m fly, winning the race in 52.22, 19 one-hundredths better than the previous record of 52.41. He also struck gold in 100m freestyle and 50m fly, while taking silver in 50m freestyle. Those results earned the Toronto, Ont. Native the OUA men's swimmer of the year for the second time in three years, also taking it in 2024 after sweeping his events. Aditionally, now having medalled in three conference championships, Ginzburg was presented with one of 13 OUA Awards of Distinction handed out this year.
Ginzburg and the Lions swimming teams will compete in the U SPORTS swimming championships from Mar. 12-14 at the Markham Pan Am Centre.
