The York University Lions track & field team took on the second day of the 2026 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Manitoba.
Day two opened with Zac Osborne, who secured fifth place in the men's weight throw with a mark of 17.33m. Action then shifted to the track, where Samuel Pinceau and Tamarri Lindo both navigated the 60m hurdle preliminaries. In a competitive final, Pinceau clocked 7.90s to claim a national bronze medal, while Lindo followed closely in sixth with a time of 7.96s. Meanwhile, Brandon Choumbe Yami dominated his 300m preliminary heat before surging to a national silver medal in the final, finishing second with a time of 33.68s. In the field events, Tristan Boateng cleared 2.09m in the high jump to finish fourth, while Arwin Mathivathanan closed out the day for the Lions with an 8.89m long jump, placing eighth.
Tomorrow, Liam West and Harrison Booth open day three with the men's pole vault, followed by Arwin Mathivathanan, Jamie Crawford, and Williams Kalu, the OUA podium-sweeping trio, competing in the men's triple jump. The action wraps up with the 4x200m relay finals, before the championship concludes with the highly anticipated 4x400m relays.
