QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions will face their third nationally-ranked opponent in five games this weekend against the No. 7 Laurier Golden Hawks. They were defeated by No. 6 Guelph 3-1 in their season opener, and by No. 3 Queen's 5-0 last weekend.
  • The Lions have won their two contests against non-ranked teams, both in convincing fashion. They defeated the Brock Badgers 4-1 two weeks ago on the road, and blanked the UOIT Ridgebacks 2-0 at home last weekend.
  • The Lions currently have a goal differential of -2, scoring seven and allowing nine.

Laurier
  • The Golden Hawks have gotten off to another strong start with three wins in their first four games, but they have been in a number of close contests. Other than a 4-0 win over Laurentian, the squad has had to win two in a shootout (over Nipissing and Western) and was defeated 2-1 by the Windsor Lancers.
  • The Golden Hawks are one of the highest-scoring teams in the OUA, ranking second with 10 goals in four games. They have allowed just five.
  • The Golden Hawks are the defending OUA champions and have been the preeminent program in the conference for more than a decade, winning nine of the last 11 banners, including seven in a row from 2004-10.

Waterloo
  • The Warriors have played in four straight one-goal games, posting a 1-0 win over Laurentian as well as an overtime loss to Western, a shootout loss to Nipissing and a regulation defeat to Windsor.
  • The Warriors have put up the same offensive and defensive numbers as the Lions through four games, with seven goals scored and nine allowed.
