LIONS OPEN HOME SCHEDULE AGAINST NIPISSING AND LAURENTIAN

The York University Lions women's hockey team is in action at Canlan Ice Sports for the first time this season as they host the Nipissing Lakers on Friday and the No. 10 Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday.

Last Meetings
Nipissing won both regular season match-ups last year with a 4-3 shootout victory in North Bay and a 2-1 overtime win at the end of January at Canlan. The last time the Lions beat the Lakers was January 26, 2014 in North Bay on a third period goal by Sarai Whitty (Kingston, Ont.).
 
In two games last season versus Laurentian, the Lions won both. In mid-November, the Lions beat the Voyageurs 3-2 in Sudbury thanks to a hat-trick by Lisa Stathopulos and at home in late January, Megan Lee (Orillia, Ont) made 17 saves for a 2-0 shutout victory.

F Stephanie DovastonThe fifth year forward leads the team in points and goals with two. She is the only Lion to record a point in each of the first two games.
 
G Megan Lee – The only goalie to appear in net this season for the Lions. Carries a .909 save percentage and a 2.57 goals against average.
 
Nipissing
 
F Bronwyn Bolduc – One of two Lakers to record a goal this season. The second-year student-athlete finished last season second on the team in points with 17.
 
F Brooklyn Irwin – Leads the team with one goal, appearing in only two games this season. Last season, she played in 20 games, recording one assist.
 
Laurentian
 
F Morgan McCann – Leads the team in points with three, all of which are assists. She is also tied for first in the OUA in assists.
 
D Julie Hebert – Leads the Voyageurs with two goals. Is also the league leader among defencemen in goals.
