QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions began the season with a win and a loss. They opened the year with a big 4-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on home ice and followed that up with a 3-0 defeat to the Queen's Gaels on the road in Kingston, Ont.
  • The Lions have an even goal differential after opening weekend, scoring four goals and allowing the same number.
  • The Lions finished 10th in the OUA last season and missed out on one of eight conference playoff spots by five points. Their 27 points last year was two more than the 25 they put up the previous year.

Brock
  • The Badgers also went 1-1 on the first weekend of the season, defeating the Rams 3-2 in double overtime in their home opener and then falling by a 2-1 score to the Windsor Lancers. All three goals in the game against Windsor were scored in the first period.
  • The Badgers finished one point ahead of the Lions in the standings last year but were still four points back of the final playoff spot in the OUA.
  • Like the Lions, the Badgers have an even goal differential, scoring four goals and allowing four for this season.
  • Prior to facing the Lions, the Badgers will travel to Guelph, Ont., to face the Gryphons on Wednesday night.

Ryerson
  • The Rams are still looking for their first victory of the season after their double overtime loss to the Badgers. That game against Brock was their only one of the first weekend of action.
  • The Rams finished at the bottom of the OUA standings last year with just three wins and 12 points, putting them at least 11 points back of the rest of the field. Their three victories were a significant step back from the 13, and a playoff spot, from the previous season.
  • Ryerson also plays its home opener this week and will welcome the Toronto Varsity Blues to Mattamy Athletic Centre on Thursday night.
