Last Meetings
The Gaels blanked the Lions 3-0 in their first match-up of the season in Kingston, Ont., on opening weekend. Last year, the two teams split their season series with the home team winning each game by a 2-1 score. The Lions' victory came in overtime and was an upset over the fourth-place Gaels.
Â
The Lions edged past the Golden Hawks in a shootout by a 3-2 score in their earlier meeting this season on the first weekend of 2017 after the long December break. The two squads each won one of the two meetings last season, with the Lions emerging victorious 4-3 on their home ice and the Golden Hawks earning a big 5-1 result on theirs.

QUICK FACTS
Â
York
- The Lions are currently in the midst of a three-game winless streak following losses to Windsor, Western and Brock in their most recent outings. Before that, they earned their biggest win of the year with a 6-2 defeat over UOIT.
- With 17 points, the Lions are in 12th place in the OUA standings and will miss out on the playoffs when they begin in two weeks.
- The Lions are one of the lowest scoring teams in the OUA this season with an average of 1.95 goals per game, putting them 11th in the conference. They are allowing 3.04 per game, ranking them 12th.
- The Lions will finish the regular season on the road next weekend with a trip to northern Ontario for games against Nipissing and Laurentian on Saturday and Sunday.
Â
Queen's
- The Gaels went undefeated in January with six straight victories, but they have since began February with a pair of losses last weekend. They were defeated 6-3 by Western and then lost to the Rams 3-2 in a shootout.
- Queen's is currently fifth in the OUA standings, but with only two points separating them from ninth place, they will need a strong finish over the last two weeks to earn one of eight playoff berths in the conference.
- The Gaels are in the middle of the pack in both offence and defence this season. They rank seventh in the conference in scoring with 2.35 goals per game, and eighth in goals allowed with a mark of 2.49 per game.
- The Gaels end their regular season against the Mustangs and Brock at home next weekend.
- Queen's is the host of this year's U SPORTS championship and, as a result, they have already earned a spot in the tournament.
Â
Laurier
- The Golden Hawks have been the best women's hockey team in the OUA for most of the last 15 years, winning 10 conference titles including most recently in 2014. They have since slid significantly and this year will finish at the bottom of the OUA standings and miss out on the playoffs for the first time in program history.
- Laurier has lost four games in a row and been shut out in each of the last two, by Nipissing and Laurentian.
- The Golden Hawks are the lowest-scoring team in the OUA, averaging just over one goal per game with a mark of 1.20. They are also near the bottom in goals allowed, ranking 11th with 2.85 given up per game.
- The Golden Hawks will face the Ridgebacks in Oshawa, Ont., and then return home to end the season against Windsor.
