SIX LIONS COMPETE IN MARAUDER BAYFRONT OPEN

Six York Lions cross country athletes competed in the annual Marauder Bayfront Open in Hamilton, Ont. over the weekend.
 
Ali Ghadghoni led the way for the Lions in the men's 8km race, finishing in 58th place in a time of 26:29. Ghadhoni was coming off a top-10 finish in his last race at the Don Mills Open and just missed setting a personal best time.
 
Also racing for the men were Christopher Pietrangelo, Austin Kpiebewieng and Justin Kpiebewieng. In his first race of the season, Pietrangelo set a personal best in a time of 29 minutes flat, while the Kpiebewieng twins finished just behind in 29:17 and 29:23 respectively.
 
On the women's side Rebecca Wheeler set a personal best in the women's 8km race in a time of 35:16 while Katrianni Pisani also suited up for the Lions but was unable to finish.
 
The next race on the OUA calendar is the Brock Open on Sunday, Oct. 21 in St. Catharines, Ont., while the OUA championships are now just two weeks away as they take place on Oct. 28 in Windsor, Ont.
