LIONS WIN LAST THREE REGULAR SEASON GAMES TO STAY UNDEFEATED

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The York Lions field hockey team travelled to Montreal, Que. and won their last three regular season games with wins over the Western Mustangs, McGill Martlets and Waterloo Warriors.
 
The Lions have had a spectacular year so far and ended the regular season with a 10-0-2 record and 32 points. With one more point than the second place Toronto Varsity Blues, the Lions will be entering playoffs in first place.
 
The Lions started off the weekend with a 4-0 win over McGill on Saturday morning. Jaslan Stirling, who has now ended off the regular season as the leading goal scorer with 22 goals, netted another hat trick for the Lions. Jaslan was able to get a goal pass the Martlets' goalie in the 15th, 62nd, and right before the whistle in the 70th minute. Amber Sandhu was also able to get a goal for the Lions in the 35th minute.
 
Later that day, the Lions defeated the Western Mustangs with a huge 5-0 win. Sandhu scored the first goal for the Lions in the 34th minute which helped the team find their momentum. Paige Koochin, Chloe Walton, and Stirling each scored a goal in the second half to increase the Lions' lead to 4-0. Walton has also become a top-10 goal scorer in the OUA with six goals this season. Claire Church scored the final goal of the game for the Lions in the 64th minute.
 
The next day, the Lions played their last game of the regular season and picked up a 2-1 win over the Waterloo Warriors. Stirling was scored two minutes into the game to give the Lions the lead. The Warriors however, were able to tie the game in the 15th minute of the first half with a goal by Fleur Diepstraten. The game remained tied until Stirling was able to find the back of the net once again in the 56th minute to give the Lions back the lead. The warriors were unable to get another goal passed the Lions' goalie, Alycia Gray.
 
The Lions will now compete in the OUA playoffs next weekend in Waterloo, Ont. The schedule for playoffs will be announced soon.
