QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions enter the final weekend of the season looking to end the year on a high note after three straight losses against the conference's two best teams. They were defeated by Queen's 4-0 and Western 3-0 on home ice, and then lost a narrow 1-0 shootout decision to the Mustangs again last week.
  • The Lions have been eliminated from the playoffs as they are currently in 11th place and eight points out of the final spot with only two games remaining.
  • The Lions are ranked 12th in the OUA in both scoring and defence, with 1.55 goals scored per game and 2.85 goals allowed.
  • The Lions will finish the regular season on Saturday night when they travel to St. Catharines, Ont., to face the Brock Badgers.

Toronto
  • The Varsity Blues lost their most recent contest, a 3-1 decision to the OUA-leading Gaels on home ice last week, but before that they were one of the hottest teams in the conference with a five-game winning streak. Throughout that stretch they knocked off Ryerson, Brock, Waterloo, Laurentian and Nipissing.
  • The Blues have already qualified for the playoffs and are currently fifth in the OUA standings. They can still finish anywhere from fourth to sixth in the standings depending on results from the final weekend.
  • Toronto is one of the better defensive teams in the OUA, ranking fourth with just 1.92 goals allowed per game. They are also sixth in conference scoring with 2.39 goals for per game.
  • Friday's game against the Lions is their last one of the regular season. They will begin playoff action next week and could potentially host a first-round series if they can move ahead of Nipissing in the standings.
