LIONS STAY UNDEFEATED WITH THREE BIG WINS

| Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The York University Lions field hockey team continued their undefeated season with another three wins over Queen's Gaels, Waterloo Warriors, and Western Mustangs this past weekend.
 
The defending OUA champions are proving that their young squad has the will and talent to take home another banner this season and sit in second place in the OUA standings with a 4-0-1 records. The Lions are two points shy of first place which is being held by the Toronto Varsity Blues who the Lions have not yet played.
 
The Lions opened up the action with a 4-0 win over Queen's Gaels Saturday afternoon. Jaslan Stirling, who now leads the OUA with the most goals, scored her first of six goals this weekend in the 15th minute of the game. Claire Church scored her first goal of the season in the 35th minute to give the Lions a 2-0 at the half. The Lions scored another two goals in the second half courtesy of Sydney McFaul and Natalie Winter in the 43rd and 59th minute of the game.
 
The Lions continued the following day with another solid 4-2 win over the Waterloo Warriors. It took Stirling only three minutes to net the first goal of the game followed by a goal from McFaul in the 7th minute. The Warriors reacted quickly as Jennifer Mead scored her first of two goals in the 10th minute and again in the 32nd minute evening the score at 2-2 before the half. The Lions pressed the Warriors in the second half as Stirling scored a must needed goal in the 59th minute to put the Lions on top 3-2. Stirling secured the win, scoring her third goal for the hat trick in the 61st minute.
 
Later that day, the Lions used their momentum to take down the Western Mustangs with a 6-1 victory. Sterling scored two goals for the Lions in the 6th and 69th minute. Chloe Walton also scored two goals, putting her second place in the OUA behind Sterling with five goals this season. Amber Sandhu scored in the 55th minute, followed by Sarah Powell in the 62nd, for their first goals of the season.

The Lions will play next weekend when they travel to Kingston, Ont. on Sept. 29 to compete against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 10:45am and the Guelph Gryphons at 4pm. They continue the action the following day against the Queen's Gaels at 12:30pm.
