LIONS HOST BELL LET'S TALK GAME SATURDAY AT CANLAN ICE SPORTS

The York University Lions women's hockey team be at home for two games this weekend when they host the Queen's Gaels on Saturday and the UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday. The game against the Gaels is the Lions official Bell Let's Talk Game, as York continues to support the initiative aimed at ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. Saturday's game will also be the Lions Roar for a Cure game, with proceeds from contests and donations going to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Last Meetings
The Lions lost 1-0 on the road in the second game of the 2018-19 season against Queen's. The Lions outshot the Gaels in that game but goaltender Makenzy Arsenault held strong and picked up the shutout. The Lions last win against the Gaels came in the 2015-16 when they beat them at home 2-1 in overtime.
 
The Lions and Ridgebacks split their season series last season, with the Ridgebacks winning 2-1 in overtime on home ice in October and the Lions returning the favour by winning 2-0 at home in January. The Ridgeback picked up an early season victory over the Lions at home in October, winning 2-1.

UOIT
  • The Ridgebacks are two points up on the Lions for ninth-place in the OUA.  
  • UOIT has lost four of five games in the new year after ending 2018 on a three-game winning streak.
  • The Ridgebacks rank tenth in the OUA in goals per game (1.94) and 11th in goals against average (2.82).
  • Prior to playing the Lions on Sunday, the Ridgebacks will visit the Guelph Gryphons for a game on Saturday afternoon.

G Eva Hall – Received a tough luck loss in the Lions last game when she stopped 18 of 19 shots in their defeat to Laurier. Has started four games for the Lions this season and has a 2-2 record with a 1.97 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.  
 
F Kelsey McHolm – Is tied for fourth in the OUA with ten goals on the season. She has already bested her career-high in goals and needs one more point to set a career-high in points.
 
Queen's
 
F Katrina Manoukarakis – Leads the Gaels with 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists). Set a career-high last season with 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists).
 
D Nicole Posesorski – The rookie leads all Gaels defencemen with eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) on the season.
 
UOIT
 
F Kassidy Nauboris – Is second in the OUA in points (20) and goals (11). The fifth-year senior has scored 80 points (42 goals, 38 assists) in 112 career games with the Ridgebacks.
 
F Erin Ross – Netted a goal and an assist in UOIT's last game against the Windsor Lancers. Has four goals and four assists in 18 games this season.
