The York University Lions men's hockey team beat the defending OUA champion Queen's Gaels by a thrilling 3-0 win on Saturday at Canlan Ice Sports.
Most of the action took place in the first period of the game where the Lions were able to secure a 2-0 lead against the Gaels. York'sÂ
Braydon Buziak andÂ
Scott Feser were able to assistÂ
Xavier Pouliot with the opening goal at 4:52. The Lions used this momentum to help them score their second goal two minutes later with Buziak recording a goal of his own, assisted by forwardsÂ
Nik Coric and
 Brendan Browne.Â
The Lions finished the first period leading 2-0.Â
Though the Lions fired seven shots on goal in the second period and the Gaels attempted thirteen, the period remained goalless, with the Lions still leading 2-0.Â
In the third period within the last minute of play, York's second-year defender
Jeremy Lucchini was able to score an empty-netter and give the Lions their third goal of the night on the Gaels who were unable to find the back of the Lions net.Â
The Lions are heading in the right direction as this shutout gives them their second win of the season.Â
The Lions will be on the road as they take on the Windsor Lancers on Friday. Puck drops at 7:30 pm.
