NO. 9 LIONS LOOK TO CONTINUE HOT START AGAINST RAMS

The No. 9 nationally ranked York University Lions women's hockey team is off to a hot start to the 2019-20 campaign and the squad will look to extend its winning streak to five games on Saturday when it faces off against the Ryerson Rams.

Last Meetings
The Lions and Rams split their season series in each of the past two seasons. Last year they played a home-and-home right at the end of the season, the Rams won the first match-up 3-1 and the Lions took the second 4-3.
 
They will meet one more time this season, on Saturday, Nov. 23 when the Lions head downtown to face the Rams in another afternoon contest.

  • The Lions are one of the best defensive teams in the OUA through the first two weeks of the season, allowing just eight goals in five games. In their four wins, they have only allowed three goals.

Ryerson
  • The Rams are coming off two straight high-scoring games, one in which they won and the other they lost. On Wednesday night they fell by a 7-3 score to the Guelph Gryphons, and last weekend they earned a 7-1 victory over Windsor.
  • Ryerson's other win this season came in their opener, a 4-2 victory over Ontario Tech. They've also lost games to Queen's and Toronto by scores of 2-1 and 2-0.
  • The Rams' 15 goals scored are tied for the third most in the OUA so far.

F Kara Washer – Tied for the team lead in scoring with five points (three goals, two assists). She has scored two game winners, against Windsor and Brock.
 
D Taylor Davison – Ranks second in OUA scoring by defenders with five points, all assists.
 
Ryerson
 
D Mariah Hinds – Her three goals are the most among OUA blueliners this season and she is tied for second with five points. She is also the team leader in scoring and netted the game winner against the Ridgebacks.
 
F Mia Morano – The rookie scored her first career goal against the Lancers, which stood as the game winner.
