The York University Lions women's hockey team may have only split their opening two games, but the way in which they did it can be nothing but encouraging to Dan Church and his staff.Â
They fell 5-2 to Nipissing in the opener, but were down just a goal to the No. 5 Lakers early in the third period. Then, the following afternoon, reigning York female athlete of the week Emma Wedgewood backstopped the Lions to a 4-0 victory, making 28 saves for her first career OUA shutout in her first career OUA game.
Now, the Lions revert their focus to back-to-back home games against the Western Mustangs on Friday night and Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday afternoon.Â
