Coming off an impressive 66-58 win on Friday night over the nationally-ranked and then-OUA Central Division-leading Brock Badgers, the York University Lions women's basketball team is back at it for one final game in 2022.
The Lions took a 6-5 lead 2:53 into the game against the Badgers, and never trailed thereafter, with the advantage peaking at 17 with 8:16 to go in the fourth. That was a statement win for the Lions in what is turning into a crowded Central.
Now, York looks to keep the good times rolling against the new division leaders, the McMaster Marauders, in the fall-term finale. McMaster comes just having had a four-game win streak snapped Wednesday in Guelph. They overtook the Badgers for top spot in the division by virtue of their two wins over Lakehead and Brock's loss to York last weekend.

Players To Watch
York:
#13 KIARA LEVERIDGE: Second-year guard… Has not experienced any semblance of a sophomore slump… Is third on the team in points per game, averaging 12… Had 10 points and four rebounds in the Lions win over Brock in a game that featured offence by committee… Has improved upon her points per game average from last year, but it feels like Leveridge has even another gear to hit in the second half of the season.
McMaster:Â
#8 SARAH GATES: Fifth-year guard… Is leading the OUA in points, averaging a shade under 27 a game… She's having the best season of her OUA career here in her final year of eligibility… Has improved on her point-per-game average every season by at least four points per season… This is the one player York will have to key in on the most if they are to extend their win streak to three.
