Two members of the York University Lions field hockey team have helped lead Ontario's U16 field hockey squad to a silver medal at the U16 national field hockey championships in Vancouver, B.C.
Lions head coach
Zeeshan Minhas acted as head coach for the Ontario squad, while York's veteran leader
Frankie St. Louis served as the team's assistant coach. The team qualified for the national final where they took silver after a spirited contest against the hosts from British Columbia.
Minhas is coming off another successful campaign as the head of the Lions field hockey team, leading them to a 4-2-2 regular season record, good for second in the division behind eventual national-finalist Toronto. St. Louis played an essential role defensively on the team.
A former U SPORTS all-Canadian and OUA first-team all-star, St. Louis has been a mainstay on the Lions field hockey roster for four seasons. She took her aforementioned hardware during the 2019 season. In the prior year, St. Louis played a role on a Lions squad which qualified for the national championship as the top team in the OUA. They won a silver medal.
