LIONS HEAD NORTH TO TAKE ON OUA EAST VOYAGEURS AND LAKERS

A weekend in Tait McKenzie Centre worked in the favour of the visitors, as the York University Lions women's basketball team regroups and heads North to Sudbury and North Bay to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers.

A Friday evening match against the Brock Badgers, the Lions took an earl 9-4 lead in the first quarter which was countered by the visitors 17-4 run to lead 21-13 and finish out the first quarter up 24-16. The Lions cut the lead in the second quarter but the Badgers led at half 50-36. Brock's solid third quarter performance was cut off in the fourth by the Lions who attempted to come back into the game, with Kiara Leveridge leading the way securinng 28 points on the night, followed by Bilan Khadar's 19, but the Lions were 10 points short and lost 85-75.

Saturday evening against the Marauders, McMaster's first quarter performance helped them keep the edge as they lead 25-15 into the second 10 minutes. York leveled the game out in terms of intensity throughout the second and third quarters, as Leveridge's 12 point third tied the third quarter in points 15-15. The Marauder's brought back their intensity for the fourth quarter, and finished the game with a 76-55 victory.

On Jan. 20 against the McMaster Marauders, she played in 18 minutes of action, shooting 50 percent from the free throw line and going 3-4 beyond the arc, recording a seasons high 10 points on the night.

#4 RUQAYA GREEN: Second-year guard... In 13 games played, she has seen 310 minutes of action shooting 31-48 from the free throw line for a 64.6 free throw shooting percentage... Her 12 steals and four blocks has helped her record 27 assists and 92 points... She had a seasons high five assists on Jan. 20 against the McMaster Marauders.
