York University Lions field hockey player Natalie Winter is getting set to rep the maple leaf for the second time in as many years.
Winter, a 2023 OUA all-star and U SPORTS all-Canadian, will play for Canada at the upcoming Indoor Pan-American Cup in Calgary, Alta.
The four-team tournament will feature Canada along with Argentina, Uruguay, and the United States. Each team will play three games in as many days before the medal round on Mar. 22. The No. 1 seed will play the No. 4 seed and the No. 2 seed will face the No. 3 seed in the semi-finals on Mar. 21. The winners will meet in the final and the losers will play for Bronze.
This selection comes just over a year after Winter, a kinesiology & health science major who led the OUA in assists in 2023 with seven, was named to the Canadian roster for the 2023 FIH Indoor World Cup. That team went 1-0-3 in pool play before bowing out to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
Winter and Team Canada's first game of the 2024 Indoor Pan-American Cup is Mar. 19 when they take on Uruguay at 5:45 pm ET.
