The York University Lions track and field team made the long trek to down the 401 to compete in the 42nd annual Can-Am Classic at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse in Windsor, the site of this year's OUA and U SPORTS track & field championships.
The Lions continued their solid start to the 2024-25 season, earning two U SPORTS qualification standards. Ella Foster qualified for the pole vault competition with a fourth-place finish, while a triple jump silver from reigning York male rookie of the year Arwin Mathivathanan earned him a spot amongst the nation's best in March.
The Lions also set 29 OUA standards at the meet in addition to five podium finishes, 10 personal best performances and 34 season bests.

The lion's share of the Lions will compete at the Fred Foot Classic this coming weekend, while the York throwers will head to London to compete in the Don Wright Challenge.
