The York University Lions wrestling program made a strong statement at the Pat Bolger Open this past weekend, securing multiple top-six placements and demonstrating solid early-season form.
Leading the way for the Lions were two medalists who reached the podium in their respective weight classes. Abina Dushyanthan delivered the top performance, earning a silver medal (2nd place) in the Women's 90kg division and contributing a team-high 7.0 points. She was joined on the podium by Juniper Wong, who wrestled her way to a bronze medal (3rd place) in the Women's 53kg weight class, adding a crucial 5.0 points to the team's score.
In addition to the medalists, several other Lions wrestlers earned valuable placements and team points at the event. Iman Aliyev put forth a strong effort in the Men's 82kg division, finishing 4th overall and tallying 3.0 points. Rounding out the top results, both Andrew Lewis-Garraway and Mina Stewart secured 6th place finishes in the Men's 57kg and Women's 50kg categories, respectively. These strong results across multiple weight classes set a positive tone for the York University Lions as they continue their competitive season.
