The York University Lions track & field team hosted the York Open this past weekend at the Toronto Track & Field Centre. The hosts earned 10 podium placements, including four event victories. They also set 19 OUA championship standards while a pair of Lions – pole vaulter Ella Foster and hurdler Tamarri Lindo – set U SPORTS championships. Foster has now set two U SPORTS qualifying standards this season after doing so in Windsor in mid-January. 

The Lions have now set 87 OUA qualifying standards this season, with last chance meets on the horizon in order to improve times and seeding for the championships. In addition to Foster and Lindo, jumper Arwin Mathivathanan also qualified for nationals – he in the triple jump – at the Can-Am Classic.
