The York University Lions track & field program had another highly successful weekend for the program, with athletes delivering standout performances both at home at a pole vault meet in Bolton, ON, and down south in Michigan at the Bill Clinger Classic. The team's depth was on full display, racking up 15 OUA qualifying performances, two U Sports automatic qualifications, and a total of nine podium finishes.
In Bolton, the pole vault crew made their mark as Ella Foster equalled her lifetime personal best of 3.95m. Her silver-medal performance was a weekend highlight, officially securing her U Sports automatic qualification in the event.
The momentum continued at Grand Valley State with the Bill Clinger Classic, which yielded eight additional podium spots. Leading the charge with gold-medal performances were the men's 4x400m relay team, comprising Daniel Burke, Brandon Choumbe Yami, Jesse St. Louis-Evans, and Nathanael Taffese, while Tristan Boateng cleared 2.02m in the high jump. On the field, Zac Osborne secured gold with a massive personal best of 17.16m in the weight throw. Osborne's standout performance in the weight throw now ranks him 8th in U Sports and 4th on the York all-time list, while his new personal best in the shot put moves him to 6th all-time in program history.
The silver-medal count grew further with strong efforts across several disciplines. In the 600m, the duo of Sophia DiMarino and Jesse St. Louis-Evans both secured second-place finishes. Jayda Quijuka also impressed in the circle, earning silver in the weight throw with a new personal best of 15.54m (moving her to 7th on the York all-time list) and adding another silver in the shot put with a toss of 14.93m. On the track, Hillary Ojo claimed silver in the 200m sprint before anchoring the women's 4x400m relay team alongside Jenna Ibrahim, Sophia DiMarino, and Charlotte Murchison to a podium finish.
