The York University Lions wrestling team was represented by seven athletes at the Guelph Open this past weekend. 

In the men's 65kg division, Yahya Akar opened the meet with a victory by fall but was forced to withdraw early due to an injury. In the men's 70kg category, Yanni Michailidis secured individual match wins but did not reach the podium in a highly competitive field. Similarly, Iman Aliyev won individual matches in the men's 85kg division but finished outside of the medal placements amidst a deep pool of talent. 

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Lions will have a break from competition next weekend before taking to the mat on February 7th for the OUA Championships. The conference title meet will be hosted by the Western Mustangs in London, ON.
