The York University Lions women's rugby team traveled to Waterloo on Saturday to face the Laurier Golden Hawks in a rematch of last season's OUA quarterfinal. With both teams looking to build momentum early in the season, York entered the match looking to respond after a loss to Western the week before.

Laurier opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the match, with the Golden Hawks adding another try at the 20-minute mark. A conversion shortly after extended their lead to 12–0.

The Golden Hawks continued to pressure York as the half progressed. Laurier added a penalty try before scoring two more tries in the final 12 minutes of the opening half. Another conversion brought the score to 26–0 before Laurier added a final try at the 39-minute mark, sending York into halftime trailing 31–0.

Laurier continued its offensive push after the break, scoring a try less than three minutes into the second half. A successful conversion made it 38–0.

The Golden Hawks added another try before the 10-minute mark of the half, followed by three more tries throughout the next 20 minutes. Laurier continued to extend its lead with another try and conversion in the final minutes.

By the final whistle, Laurier had a 67–0 lead over York.

The result comes against a Laurier side York previously faced twice during the 2025 season. The Golden Hawks won the regular-season meeting 59–28 before edging the Lions 27–21 in the OUA quarterfinal.

York will return to action next weekend when the Lions host the Trent Excalibur at York Alumni Field on September 26th with the game set to start at 4 PM EST.
