The York University Lions women's rugby team will look for its first win of the season this weekend when they host the Trent Excalibur at Alumni Field in Toronto. The Lions will also be hosting their annual senior day ceremony before the game where they will pay homage to their six graduating seniors, Stephanie Draycott, Sahrena Gordon, Cecilia Martino, Alanna Mrkobrada, Jahlesha Roye and Athena Slater..

The Lions currently find themselves 0-3 to start the year after playing against some of the toughest teams in the OUA to start the season. The Lions opened the season against the defending OUA champions, the Queens Gaels, then went on to face the Western Mustangs and Laurier Golden Hawks in their next two matches.

Trent has not fared much better to start the season as they also find themselves 0-3 to start the year. Trent so far has faced the McMaster Marauders, Waterloo Warriors, and Brock Badgers. Dropping those games 81-5, 25-10 and 105-0, respectively.

One of these sides will walk away with their first win of the season and look to build on it over the final third of the regular season. When these two teams met last season, York emerged victorious on home turf, securing a 64-31 win over the Excalibur. Roye scored four tries in that one, her second straight four-try affair, after having done so the previous week at Toronto. The Lions will hope for a similar result on Saturday as they look to kickstart a late-season playoff push.

The game gets underway just after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon following the pregame festivities. Admission is free.
