LIONS HOST NATIONALLY-RANKED RAVENS AND GEE-GEES AT TAIT

The York University Lions men's basketball team will host the No. 2 Carleton Ravens and No. 6 Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Tait McKenzie Centre this weekend. The game against the Gee-Gees on Saturday will double as the Lions Grad Day for the men's basketball team. A ceremony honouring graduating players Nana Adu-Poku, Gianmarco Luciani and Gene Spagnuolo will take place on the court prior to the game.

Last Meetings
The Lions lost against the perennially successful Ravens in January. The Ravens, who have won 13 of the last 16 national championships haven't lost to the Lions since the 2009-10 season.  
 
York and Ottawa matched up last month with the Gee-Gees picking up a victory on home court. In that game Gage Sabean led the way for the Gee-Gees with a game-high 25 points while Luciani led the Lions with 17 points and five rebounds.

  • After going 8-2 in the first half of the season, the Gee-Gees are 5-4 in the new year.
  • The Gee-Gees are a dangerous and aggressive team from beyond the arc. They lead the OUA in three-pointers made per game (10.6) and are second in three-point attempts per game (29.8) and three-point percentage (35.6%).
