Box Score The York University Lions women's volleyball team lost 3-2 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
The Gryphons took the first two sets against the Lions, who trailed behind 25-16 in the first and 25-18 in the second set.
It took the Lions the third set to help them get on the board. A block by

Kayla Clennon provided the Lions with their first point of the set. This was followed by two more blocks by Bailey to give the Lions a 3-0 lead. York vet
Sarah Williams then served three times in a row to give the Lions a 6-1 lead, their largest lead of the game. The Lions took the set 25-18, making the match 2-1 with the Gryphons still leading.
The Lions proved themselves to be contenders in the fourth set of the game as they took it by four points with a 25-21 win. The set saw 16 kills by the Lions, seven of them from Clennon and four of them from
Olivia Kim.
The home side was one set away from completing the comeback but could not close it out. The Gryphons took the lead early in the fifth set and kept it that way until they beat the Lions 15-12 to seal the victory.
William's finished with a team-high 18.5 points, on 16 kills, two service aces and an assisted block, and also added 11 digs.
Chiara Da Silva led all players with 42 assists.
The Lions have just one match next weekend and will be headed out on the road as they take on the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday afternoon. Game starts at 1pm.
