York University Lions first-year middle blocker Yulia Glazko has earned a selection to the OUA all-rookie team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. The recognition comes after Glazko established herself as a solid two-way presence and was among the top rookie middles in the league.
Statistically, Glazko, a Brampton, Ont., native, emerged as one of the blocking leaders in the province as she finished the season ranked eighth in the OUA for both solo blocks (27) and blocks per set (0.89), the only rookie in the top 25 in the province in those categories. This defensive efficiency at the net was a consistent factor for the Lions, providing a reliable interior defense against conference opponents.
In addition to her defensive contributions, the kinesiology and health science major was a primary scoring option for the Lions offense, concluding her rookie campaign with 140.5 total points, maintaining a high level of productivity across the team's rotations. Her impact extended to the service line, where she led the Lions in service efficiency. Glazko recorded 17 service aces on the season, averaging 0.30 aces per set to lead the team in that department.
Glazko's inclusion on the the all-rookie team makes this the third straight season a Lion has cracked the squad, following in the footsteps of Victoria Herrington (2023-24) and Quinn McTavish (2024-25). As demonstrated by her blocking and service efficiency, she promises to become a foundational component of the Lions program into the 2026-27 season and beyond.
