2022 LIONS MEN’S BASKETBALL SEASON PREVIEW

Winds of change are blowing at the Tait McKenzie Centre, with a new group of coaches taking hold of the Lions men's basketball program for 2022-23. By extension, new players are joining coach Jermain Holness's roster.

Yaw Antwi-Bosiako is one of them. He played out his first OUA season at York in 2016-17 before transferring to McMaster. Now, he's back. So far, he likes what he sees from the team.

"Coach Jay is great," said Antwi-Bosiako. "I like him a lot, he's really professional with everything. Things have been different, and I like the progression the program is making."

The change in culture is exactly what Holness has tried to employ on his group.

"I want our guys to learn the process of preparation, then come out and compete at the level required at the OUA," Holness said. "It's a fresh start for myself and the team. We're hoping to capitalize on the new energy from the fans, players and university, and turn it into success moving forward."

The Lions are a fast-moving team that will play to their athleticism, according to Antwi-Bosiako. He expects them to compete with the best in the OUA – and they'll have that chance right off the bat, when they play against the defending national champions from Carleton to open their season Friday, Nov. 4.

The game is set for a 7 pm start, with streaming available on OUA.tv.
