After putting together a .500 season at 10-10 and narrowly missing the OUA playoffs, two members of the York University Lions volleyball team were included among the best the OUA has to offer. 

Amarai Endes, a fourth-year middle blocker from Toronto, Ont., was named a second team all-star, while Quinn McTavish, a first-year middle blocker from Salmon Arm, B.C., was selected to the OUA all-rookie team.

Endes, an environmental biology major, earns her second OUA second team all-star nod in the last three seasons after another tremendous campaign that put her near the top of the OUA in several categories. Endes led the OUA in hitting percentage at a robust .321, amassing 132 kills on 305 total attacks with just 34 errors. She ranked ninth in the country in hitting percentage, while finishing in the top 20 in the OUA in both blocks (12th – 58) and blocks per set (17th – 0.77). Her season high in was 12, done twice: on Oct. 26 at Trent and Nov. 15 at Ottawa; her season-best in blocks came Nov. 16 when she posted eight total blocks at Ottawa. 

McTavish, a kinesiology & health science major, was a consistent force at the net for the Lions in her rookie season, finishing second on the team with a .251 hitting percentage. That mark placed her 11th in the OUA, and made her the only rookie in the conference to finish in the top 12 in that category. The Salmon Arm S.S. alum finished tops on the team with 59 blocks, which were good for 11th in the province, making her one of only two rookies to finish in the top 15. Her career best in kills to date was a 12-kill performance on Jan. 18 vs. Nipissing in which she hit .280, while her best in blocks came on Feb. 7 at Brock when she posted a team-high 11.
