The York University Lions are set for a challenging weekend at the Tait McKenzie Centre, facing two of their most formidable historic rivals. The weekend kicks off Friday, February 6, at 8:00 pm with the annual Black History Month game against the Western Mustangs. The event celebrates Black history and excellence in sport while bringing students, alumni, and fans together for a night of competitive basketball and community pride.
The Lions then face a quick turnaround, hosting the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, February 7, at 8:00 pm. Both opponents currently hold winning records, presenting a tough challenge for the home side. History favors the visitors, as the Lions seek their first win over Western since 2013; however, recent history provides a spark of hope from a 2023 overtime thriller where York upset the Lancers. The Lions will look to channel that same energy to secure crucial points at home.
